how to clean artificial turf without damaging it

To be ready for each upcoming athletic season, coaches and staff need to see their athletes in the best health and playing position.

They spend time and money training and taking care of their athletes. But what they may not know, is that taking care of the turf and locker rooms is actually a huge part in taking care of their athletes.

If not for a bacteria-free field, disease and infection grow within the turf and contaminate anything that touches it. Thus, athletes are at higher risk of contracting disease and being unable to play.

Fortunately, we have just the right solution to keep your athletes protected: MonoFoil.

THE RISKS WITH TURF

Most playing fields these days are made of artificial turf and while turf is more convenient to maintain and play on, it isn’t necessarily a disease-free environment. Turf can easily be a breeding ground for disease and viruses such as MRSA, Staph (staphylococcus aureus), and other infections.

Anyone on the playing field is at risk including anyone on the sidelines. Due to all the blood, spit, and sweat that is often dropping to the ground on the sidelines, this tends to be the most vulnerable place for housing disease.

This poses a risk not only to the players, but to whoever stands on the sidelines – coaches and staff included.

PREVENTION FROM ATHLETIC DISEASES

Common skin infections, such as Athlete’s Foot, can typically be treated easily. But infections such as MRSA and Staph are more serious and can keep a player out of the game.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) lists these five “C’s” to that can lead to contraction of MRSA and/or Staph:

  1. Crowding
  2. Frequent skin to skin Contact
  3. Compromised skin (cuts, abrasions, etc…)
  4. Contaminated surfaces
  5. Lack of Cleanliness

Athletes are frequently exposed to #1-#3 (crowding, skin to skin contact, and injuries), but their exposure to contaminated surfaces and uncleanly things can be dramatically lessened with MonoFoil. By killing bacteria that lies in the turf, bacteria cannot transport onto anything else either such as gear, towels, drinking containers, etc.

WHY MONOFOIL WORKS

Protecting your turf is as important as protecting your athletes. If the turf doesn’t hold up to cleanliness standards, it can greatly affect your athletes as well. Obviously the turf needs cleaned, but it shouldn’t be cleaned with just any chemical cleaner. Why? Because the better you take care of your artificial turf, the longer it will last. Chemical and harsh cleaners are too aggressive and can knock years off your turf’s lifespan, causing you to spend money to replace it earlier than needed.

With MonoFoil, our antimicrobial solution is aggressive enough, yet still safe for artificial and expensive turf. MonoFoil keeps your players safe by killing bacteria in the turf and preventing disease from being contracted. Athletic teams such as the The Indiana Pacers, Louisville Cardinals, The University of Notre Dame, Auburn University, and Butler University are already partners with MonoFoil, using our products to protect their athletes.

As you can see, many of the most protected athletes in the world are using MonoFoil, reassuring you that it does in fact work. It’s important that Athletic Directors take the time to invest in cleaning and properly maintaining artificial turf to limit athletic sickness. Choosing MonoFoil will be a choice that protects the turf, the athletes, and the love of the game.
